Past projects

These are only selected few of the past game projects developed and published by Giant Fox Studios since the beginning.

Causality

Causality was Bored.com’s biggest Flash game series, published from 2009 until 2016. It is estimated there were over 50 million plays worldwide across various browser gaming websites.

Giant Fox Studios was involved with the design and development of at least a dozen games for this series. We were able to templatize a lot of the design and create reusable scripts that made making new games for the series very easy. Some of these games were coded in less than a day using the tools we built for previous games.

The success of Causality also resulted in creation of a few spin off series such as included DeathClick, StickSave, and ClickDeath. Each of these series are similar, but had their own unique gameplay twist.

Evil Glitch

Evil Glitch is an arcade 2D shoot ’em up with retro aesthetics inspired by 80’s media that was published by Giant Fox Studios in 2017.

The game features its own universe and plot line based on sacred geometry, a school of thought that ascribes symbolic and sacred meanings to certain geometric shapes and certain geometric proportions. Players must fight to survive as long as they can evading enemies and destroying their bases. Their efforts were rewarded with a global leaderboard rank.

This game was originally developed for the js13k competition in 2016 by Gio Beltran. Giant Fox Studios saw its potential and helped publish Evil Glitch on Steam where it is still available today.

This game does not use any third-party framework or library and it only weights 13 kilobytes.

Gamester

Gamester was an app that allowed anyone to create a personalized game. Kinda like personalized Jib Jab cards but for video games. Users were able to take a photo of their face or of a friend and then select different options to customize their own game.

In the winter of 2014, our friend Jackie asked us to make a personalized game for her boyfriend to celebrate their anniversary. The game would feature them as the main characters and be customized to include their favorite animals, colors, and music. After a successful delivery, we showed the game to some people who also got interested in hiring us to create games about their significant others, kids, and even pets. We realized there was an opportunity here, an untapped market of personalized games for consumers that did not know how to make games by themselves.

The first version of Gamester was built and presented at several gaming expos to promote a Kickstarter campaign we ran. At PAX East, we even set up a mini game dev studio in a 10×10 booth where visitors could take a photo in front of professional lighting equipment, get drawn in specific style by our artists, and record their voice in a sound booth. We won first place during a competition at a Playcrafting expo in NYC and were flown out to San Francisco to demo the game at Casual Connect. Eventually we were not able to raise the level of interest and funding we hoped for. However, we managed to learn a lot about design and incorporating user feedback through iterative process.

RoboBunnies in Space! is an arcade local co-op game for two players developed and released by us on Steam in 2021. Two robobunnies team up to transport a magic crystal safely through 50 action-packed levels.

The game can be played alone or with a friend on a single keyboard or game controller. When playing together both players need to really be in-sync to make it through all the challenges presented in an intense obstacle course, such as asteroids, planets, aliens, and and boss encounters.
